The Seven Churches: Hear What the Spirit Says

Christ's letters to seven ancient churches still search the heart of the Church today.

FIELD NOTERevelation 2 and Revelation 3

The seven letters of Revelation are not distant museum pieces. They name spiritual conditions that remain painfully familiar: lost love, persecution, compromise, corruption, lifeless religion, faithful endurance, and comfortable indifference. The song turns each diagnosis into a direct call to listen.

Its recurring challenge, to hear what the Spirit says to the churches, binds seven distinct messages together. Ephesus must return to its first love. Smyrna must remain faithful in suffering. Pergamum and Thyatira must reject compromise. Sardis must awaken. Philadelphia must hold fast. Laodicea must open the door.

The metal arrangement gives those commands urgency without losing their pastoral purpose. Christ exposes weakness because He loves His Church and promises life to those who overcome. The song asks an uncomfortable but necessary question: if the risen King addressed us today, would we have ears to hear?
