Sonic Canvas Setup Guide
Sonic Canvas uses Google Gemini for AI artwork, song analysis, titles, and lyric assistance. Follow these steps to create your own key and connect it to the studio.
Open Google AI StudioOpen the Google AI Studio API Keys page and sign in with the Google account you want to use.
New users may already have a project and key. Otherwise, select Create API key, then create a new project or choose an existing Google Cloud project.
Some Sonic Canvas AI features can require a paid Gemini project. If Google shows Set up billing, follow its prompts to connect a billing account and review your spending controls.
On the API Keys page, copy the newly created key. Treat it like a password and do not post it publicly, send it in chat, or place it in website source code.
Return to Sonic Canvas, use the Google API key control, and paste your key when prompted. The selection is saved only in that browser for the studio.
Try AI background generation, song analysis, or lyric assistance. If you see a quota or billing message, review the project status and usage in Google AI Studio.
Need the official documentation? Review Google’s Gemini API key guide. Google controls the key creation screens, billing terms, quotas, and availability, so wording in AI Studio may change over time.
